Alumn of the Berklee College of Music/Boston and the Drummers Collective/ New York. Thanks to his versatility he has worked in a lot of bands and projects covering many different styles. For 10 years he played in Jürg Morgenthaler’s Mainstream Jazz Quartet „J.M. Rhythm Four“, performed in the Swiss production of the musical „CATS“ and was the drummer for the Big Band „Zurich Jazz Orchestra“.
During the last 25 years he has performed in various bands and projects with Daniel Schnyder, Stefan Schlegel, Felix Utzinger, Mario Scarton, Stefan Stahel, Christoph Sprenger, Christian Münchinger, Herbie Kopf, Joel Reiff, Gabriela Tanner, Peter Frei.
Presently Robert Mark is a member of the „Andy Harder Quartet“, the Funk Jazz Group „Journeys“, Marco Santilli’s Quartet „Viaggio sujazztivo“ and the „Master Davy – David Copperfield“ production by Stefan Schlegel and Christoph Hürsch. He also regularly performs in a unique duo setting with church organ player Markus Braun. His speciality are solo concerts in total darkness at the „Blinde Kuh“ club in Zurich. Just recently he joined the group „Off & Out“. His newest projects in the year 2008 are the Duo „Hochformat“ with Saxophonist Michael Voss – Music for Percussion and Sax in gigantic concrete, overacoustic chambers (Albigna Damm and the Lyren Water Tank near Zurich) - as well as the group „Sun da l’Engiadina“, which presents traditional folkloristic songs from the Engadin Valley in a new meditative-groovy-lounge setting.
Robert also keeps busy with recording sessions in the studio as a freelance drummer or percussionist for Jazz and Pop productions as well as movie soundtracks eg. „Oilcrash“ with the music by Daniel Schnyder.

Robert Mark teaches Drums, Percussion and Ensembles at the Zurich Music School, as well as the Rämibühl and Birch Highschools in Zurich. He also teaches drum didactics for future drum teachers at the Jazz Schools in Basel, Bern and St. Gallen.
